Baseball gains win over Knox with six run ninth inning

WINTER HAVEN, Fla. -- The baseball team wrapped up a 5-2 roadtrip to Florida with a 9-8 come from behind win in the ninth inning on Saturday.  The Panthers scored six runs in the ninth inning.

Greenville fell behind 6-1 after four innings and chipped away at the lead with single runs in the fifth and sixth innings.

Knox extended the lead to 8-3 after runs in the eighth and ninth innings.

In the bottom of the ninth, the Panthers got an RBI double from Jesse Getz, an RBI single from Adam Lamb, and a two run single from Mike Hardin to make the score 8-7.

Greenville crossed the plate with the tying run when Hardin scored on a wild pitch, and they scored the winning run when Shane Olmsted crossed home plate on another wild pitch.

Relief pitcher Philip Reedy kept the Panthers in the game as he delivered four innings, only allowing one unearned run.

Adam Lamb posted a 4-for-4 hitting performance with a run scored and two RBI.

Danny Strohm was 3-for-4 including a home run and three runs scored.

Austin Rexroad was the winning pitcher with 1.2 innings of one run baseball.

The Panthers (8-7) return to Greenville and host Washington-St. Louis at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
