Baseball sweeps Eureka on the road

EUREKA, Ill. -- The baseball team topped Eureka 14-6 and 26-4 to ease to a doubleheader sweep on the road.

In game one, the Panthers led 9-0 after the top of the fourth in their eight run win.

Klaiton Wolff went 2-for-2 with a run scored and three RBI.

Austin Marsh and Danny Strohm homered.

Marsh drove in three runs and scored twice.

Jonah Moore was the winning pitcher with five innings of work in which he permitted six runs, two earned.

The Panthers piled up 26 runs in game two as they scored their most runs in a game since totaling 25 runs against Lincoln Christian on April 4, 2006.

They scored in each of the seven innings as the game was shortened by the 10-run mercy rule.

Travis Ralls, Danny Strohm, Max Gabriel, and Mike Hardin hit home runs.

Strohm drove in four runs, and Sam Hodges and Klaiton Wolff each had three RBI.

Jesse Getz, Adam Lamb, Travis Ralls, Hardin, and Hodges all scored three times.

Starting pitcher Phillip Reedy improved to 2-2 with five innings in which he allowed two unearned runs.  He had six strikeouts.

The Panthers (17-12, 7-4 SLIAC) host MacMurray on Wednesday in another SLIAC doubleheader.
