Baseball picks up 11th inning win at Principia

ELSAH, Ill. -- The baseball team salvaged the third game of the set with Principia with a 4-3 extra inning victory on Saturday night.  Klaiton Wolff produced the game-winning hit with the bases loaded in the bottom of the 11th.

The Panthers were the home team in a game that was played at Principia College in Elsah due to Greenville's field conditions.

Greenville took the lead in the bottom of the first inning when Austin Marsh produced an RBI double.

The Panthers increased the lead to 2-0 in the bottom of the sixth after Jesse Getz scored on a wild pitch.

GU had to rally in the eighth inning to tie the game when Principia took a 3-2 lead in the top of the seventh.  Travis Ralls scored on a pair of two-base errors.  The first was by the shortstop on a ball he put in play, and later a catcher's error allowed him to score from second base.

Jonah Moore started the game on the mound for Greenville and worked into the seventh inning.  He struck out 12 and allowed three runs on four hits.

Adam Lamb closed the game for the Panthers with over four innings of virtually spotless relief.  He picked up the win to improve to 2-2.

Both Marsh and Wolff tallied three hits for Greenville.

The Panthers (8-10, 3-2 SLIAC) travel to Illinois College for a game on Tuesday.
