Baseball splits at Blackburn

CARLINVILLE, Ill. — The baseball team split a doubleheader at Blackburn on Saturday. The Panthers took game one 9-5 and lost game two 6-3.

Five Panthers recorded two hits in the game — Travis Ralls, Austin Marsh, Andrew Torbeck, Bryce Pearce, and C.J. Falls. Torbeck added three RBI, and Marsh, Sam Hodges, and Bryce Pearce each scored twice.

Sam Alender was the winning pitcher with five completed innings. He permitted five runs on seven hits with five strikeouts and three walks.

Game two saw Blackburn score five runs over their last two innings in a loss for the Panthers.

Pearce hit a two-run homer in the sixth to give GU a lead.

Austin Rexroad was the losing pitcher with five runs allowed in three innings of relief.

The Panthers (15-15, 10-7 SLIAC) host Webster on Tuesday night in Greenville.
