Baseball gains critical conference win over MacMurray

JACKSONVILLE, Ill. -- The baseball team received a two run rally in the seventh inning on Wednesday to take the lead over MacMurray and held on for the 2-1 victory.

The Panthers were trailing 1-0 in the top of the seventh when Chandler Dix delivered a leadoff single.  Dix advanced to second on the second out of the inning and went to third on an error when the third baseman misplayed a ball hit by Travis Ralls.

Ralls later stole second base, and Klaiton Wolff hit a two-run single.

Bryce Pearce received the start on the mound and went seven innings, only allowing a first inning run.

Austin Rexroad closed the game with two innings for a save.

Dix and Andrew Torbeck each posted two hits.

The Panthers (16-17, 11-9 SLIAC) host Rose-Hulman on Thursday night at 6 p.m.
