Baseball evens season record with win over Rose-Hulman

GREENVILLE, Ill. -- The baseball team sent out its seniors with a win in their final regular season home game with a shutout 4-0 victory against Rose-Hulman on Thursday.  The night began as the Panthers honored seniors Bryce Pearce, Austin Marsh, Travis RallsJesse Getz, and Caleb Watts in a pregame ceremony.

Once the game was underway, the night belonged to first-year Panther Sam Alender.

The sophomore Alender hurled eight scoreless innings, striking out six and allowing four hits and two walks.

The game was scoreless until the seventh inning when the Panthers scored a run off a Rose-Hulman reliever as Marsh trotted home on a passed ball.

In the eighth inning, the Panthers added three insurance runs.  Ralls drove in Getz with an RBI double, Sam Hodges' bunt scored Ralls, and a sacrifice fly by Pearce allowed Marsh to cross home safely.

Ralls was a perfect 3-for-3 on the night, and Pearce went 2-for-3.

The Panthers (17-17) conclude their regular season next Saturday at Fontbonne.
