Baseball takes walk-off win over Loras

KISSIMMEE, Fla. - The baseball team earned a 6-5 win over Loras on Tuesday when they scored the game-winning run in the bottom of the ninth on an error.

The Panthers, who were the home team in the game, took the early lead when Sam Hodges provided a two-run single in the bottom of the first.

Loras cut the lead to 2-1 in the top of third, but Greenville received a sacrifice fly from Adam Lamb to make the score 3-1 in the bottom of the third.

Loras took a 4-3 lead with two runs in the top of the fourth, but Andrew Torbeck hit a two-run home run in the bottom of the fourth to give Greenville a 5-4 advantage.

In the top of the seventh inning, Loras tied the game at 5-all on a home run.

In the bottom of the ninth, Mark Islas recorded a two out double and scored when the first baseman misplayed a ball hit by Matthew Schroeder into a Greenville win.

Sam Alender was the starting pitcher for Greenville. He gave up four runs on six hits in six innings and struck out six.

Austin Rexroad picked up the win in relief. He struck out one in a perfect inning.

Hodges led Panthers with three hits in four at bats.

The Panthers (7-4) play Curry in a doubleheader on Thursday.
