EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. - The baseball team had their season end with a 9-0 loss to SLIAC East Division champion Spalding in game five of the SLIAC tournament on Saturday.
Spalding took an immediate advantage after holding Greenville scoreless in the top of the first with three runs off starting pitcher Austin Rexroad in the bottom of the first. Rexroad was making only his second start of the season.
Spalding added a run in the bottom of the second inning and two runs in both the third and fourth innings to open up a 9-0 lead.
Rexroad permitted six runs , four earned, as he went 2.1 innings.
He was relieved by Hunter Cullum who got out of the third inning by retiring two batters.
Cullum yielded the mound to senior Cole Becker, who made the final appearance of his career. Becker threw one inning and allowed two runs, one earned.
Klaiton Wolff ended the game for the Panthers with his longest appearance of the season, going four innings and giving up one run.
Adam Lamb capped his collegiate career with a two hit performance, and Isaac Whitten finished his career with a pinch-hit single in his final at bat.
With the loss, the Panthers concluded their season with a record of 23-17 and a sixth straight appearance in the SLIAC tournament.
