Football defeats Crown in UMAC action

GREENVILLE, Ill. -- The football team captured their first win of the 2016 with a 34-33 victory over Crown on Saturday.  Quarterback George Harris had a part in four of Greenville's touchdowns as he passed for three and ran in one.

The Panthers carried a 13-6 lead into halftime.

Each team scored a first quarter touchdown.

John Dudley struck first for Greenville with a 25 yard pass from Harris just 1:13 into the game.

Crown answered with a touchdown shortly thereafter, but Dudley and Harris connected again in the second quarter for a 45 yard receiving touchdown.

Crown took the lead early in the third quarter before Corbin Quinonez and Harris linked together for a 12 yard touchdown pass.

Before the third quarter ended, Harris ran in a two yard score to push G.C.'s lead to 26-14.

Crown picked up three touchdowns in the final quarter, but Jonny Pruitt's 71 yard run with 7:49 remaining in the game gave Greenville the margin of victory they needed.

Just 32 seconds before the game ended, Crown scored and went for two points and the win.  They didn't make the conversion.

Harris recorded 130 passing yards on 8-of-13 completions and three touchdowns.  He rushed in one touchdown.

Dudley collected 70 receiving yards on two receptions and two TD's.

Angel Manzano led the defense with six tackles. Lincoln Johnson sacked the quarterback twice.

Cory Snyder provided an interception.

The Panthers (1-5, 1-4 UMAC) travel to MacMurray next Saturday for a 1 p.m. contest.
