Football defensive effort keeps MacMurray at bay

GREENVILLE, Ill. -- The football team held MacMurray's offense to a season lows with 309 yards of total offense and 19 points, but Greenville's offense was shut down as MacMurray won 19-6.

The score was 6-0 in favor of the Highlanders at halftime as the Panthers held them scoreless through the first 27 minutes of the game.

MacMurray added two more touchdowns to take a 19-0 lead.

Greenville got on the scoreboard in the final two minutes when Jonny Pruiett capped a 78 second drive with a two yard rushing touchdown.

Pruiett was an offensive workhorse as he led all rushers, including UMAC leading rusher Chazz Middlebrook from MacMurray, with 112 yards on 23 carries.

Quarterback George Harris went 13-of-21 for 108 passing yards, and Derek Greifzu had seven receptions for 53 yards.

On the defensive side of the ball, Brock Bullar and Colton Faure led Greenville with 10 tackles each.  Faure tallied three quarterback sacks.

The Panthers (1-4, 1-3 UMAC) go to Crown next Saturday for a game in Minnesota.
