GREENVILLE, Ill. -- The football team suffered a 24-14 loss to Westminster at home on Saturday in their Homecoming game.

Greenville couldn't seem to get their offense on track early in the game as their defense kept them in it.  Westminster held a 12-0 lead when Panther quarterback George Harris ran the ball in from two yards out to put points on the scoreboard.  After a Bradley Stubbs extra point, the Panthers trailed 12-7 at halftime.

The third quarter saw Westminster push their advantage to 18-7 and a fourth quarter TD gave the Blue Jays a 24-7 lead.

Greenville scored a late touchdown on a three yard run by Derek Greifzu and an extra point from Stubbs.

Greenville was outgained 373-349 in the game, but the Panthers managed to put 212 rushing yards on the stats sheet.

Jonny Pruiett led Greenville with 115 yards on 15 carries.

Harris completed 14-of-26 passes for 137 yards.

Brock Buller led the Panther defense with 10 tackles, and Colton Faure had eight tackles.  Three of Faure's tackles stopped Westminster behind the line of scrimmage.

Anthony Esquivel recorded eight tackles and a quarterback sack.

The Panthers (2-6, 2-5 UMAC) travel to Iowa Wesleyan for a game next Saturday.
