Franchomme selected as an NCAA Division III All-American

WACO, Texas - After an outstanding junior season, Gregoire Franchomme of Greenville University was recognized for his efforts at the highest level as he was selected Second Team All-America as announced by the American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) on Tuesday.

AFCA Release

This is the second consecutive season for Greenville to have an individual named All-American.  Last year, NFL rookie Nicholas Morrow gained the award. Franchomme was named to the D3football.com All-West Region Second Team last week.

Franchomme was the top offensive weapon from the tight end position. The junior was third in the UMAC for receiving touchdowns (10) which was the most by any player at his position. Additionally, he was fourth in receiving yards (703) and averaged 70.3 yards per game and 4.2 receptions per game. His 42 receptions were sixth in the UMAC.

The AFCA has selected an All-America team every year since 1945. The AFCA's Division III All-America Selection Committee is made up of three head coaches from each of the AFCA's eight districts, one of whom serves as a district chairman, along with another head coach who serves as the chairman of the selection committee. The coaches in each district are responsible for ranking the top players in their respective districts prior to a conference call between the district chairmen and the committee chairman on which the team is chosen.
