KALAMAZOO, Mich. -- The football team held Kalamazoo scoreless over the final 30 minutes of the game, but it was not enough to overcome a 42-7 halftime deficit in a loss on Saturday.

KC scored the first 21 points of the game, but GU managed to close the game to 21-7 with a two yard touchdown pass from receiver Sean Brooks to quarterback Dalton Mitchell with 1:10 remaining in the first quarter.

Unfortunately, Greenville was unable to muster any additional scoring as Kalamazoo posted three touchdowns in the second quarter.

The Panthers held a 31:10-28:50 advantage in the time of possession while using 52 rushing attempts to produce 163 yards.  Isaih Ibarra posted 15 rushes for 72 yards.

Greenville's Daniel McCloud ran the ball nine times for 37 yards.

The Panther passing game coudn't quite get on track with 140 yards of production as they used sophomore Dalton Mitchell and junior George Harris in the role.  Mitchell went 7-of-20 for 82 yards, and Harris was 5-of-9 for 56 yards.

Eric Kranh paced Greenville's receiving corps with four catches for 57 yards, including a long of 35.

The GU defense accounted for nine tackles behind the line of scrimmage.  Isaiah Woodhouse and Mark Barigye each had one quarterback sack.

Greenville's leading tackler was Bryson Johnson with nine, including two for a loss.

Herman Esquivel played a role in eight tackles.

The Panthers (0-2) open UMAC action on Saturday, September 15, against Northwestern at Noon.
