GREENVILLE, Ill. - The football team secured their second win in the last three games with a 30-20 victory at Iowa Wesleyan on Saturday.

The Panthers opened scoring in the game with a three yard touchdown pass from Dalton Mitchell to Seth Logan to give the Panthers an early 7-0 lead.

The game remained 7-0 in favor of Greenville until the second quarter.  With 5:12 remaining in the first half, Rafael Branquinho Soares de Castro converted a 27 yard field goal to make the score 10-0.

Just two minutes later, the Panthers took possession of the ball on the IWU4, and Mitchell eventually ran the ball for a two-yard touchdown.

With 23 seconds to go, the Tigers put points on the scoreboard with a touchdown to take the score to 17-6 at the half.

Early in the third quarter, Greenville received another touchdown, a 15-yard rush from Mitchell, to expand their lead to 24-6.

IWU tightened GU's lead with a touchdown with 7:44 to go in the third period as they made the score 24-14 following the two-point conversion.

After going 15 minutes without either team scoring, the Panthers produced a touchdown when Eric Kranh caught a six yard pass from Mitchell with 7:10 left in the game.

The Tigers got a late touchdown to tighten the final score to 30-20.

The Panthers produced 354 yards of total offense in the game and limited Iowa Wesleyan to 217 yards.

Mitchell completed 20-of-32 passes for 167 yards and two touchdown passes.  He also ran the ball nine times for 41 yards and two touchdowns.

Christian Moss received his most extensive work of the year at running back and carried the ball 17 times for 57 yards.

Gregoire Franchomme caught seven passes for 99 yards.

On the defensive side of the ball, Anthony Esquivel led the Panthers with eight tackles, including one and a half sacks.

Mark Barigye also earned one and a half quarterback sacks.

Reigning UMAC defensive player of the week Gavin Jordan came up with a fumble recovery and an interception return of 30 yards.

The Panthers (3-6, 3-4 UMAC) will conclude their season with a game at Minnesota-Morris on Saturday, Nov. 10.
