Coach Trent Laune joined the Greenville College coaching staff for the 2013 season and is its defensive coordinator.  He will coach the defensive backs this season.  He is coming off an impressive first year debut as the Panthers defensive coordinator.  Laune helped coach the Panthers to a school best 9-1 record in the regular season and an NCCAA victory bowl appearance.  Four Panther defensive players earned UMAC all-conference honors, and two Panther defensive players earned NCCAA mentions.

As the defensive coordinator and linebacker coach, Laune’s defense held opponents to just 117 rush yards per game and limited offensive scoring to 23 points per game.  The defense showed tremendous improvement from the year before when the Panther defense allowed 30 points per game.  Defensive backs Bryce Wright and Anthony Moore were named to the UMAC all-conference squad.  Moore was also a first team NCCAA selection.  Linebacker Cody Lopez and defensive lineman Issac Barber were also all-UMAC selections.  In addition, Laune coached linebacker Johnny Uperesa, who was named defensive MVP in the NCCAA Victory Bowl.

Coach Laune joined the Panthers from Concordia, an NAIA member in Nebraska.  Laune held many titles at Concordia including linebacker coach, defensive line coach, and graduate assistant.  In 2011, he was a part of a defensive coaching staff that limited opponents to 2.8 yard per carry.  He also coached the top linebacker in the conference that same year.  Coach Laune has coached 14 all-conference performers on the defensive side of the ball.  He has also served as a clinic lecturer Nebraska high school football clinics.

Coach Laune has his bachelor's degree in business and an MBA in finance, both from Concordia.  He and his wife Megan are heavily involved in international missions work.  They have been married since 2009 and reside in Greenville.
