Men's basketball shoots way to 130-106 opening night win

GALESBURG, Ill. -- The men's basketball team started their defense of their SLIAC regular championship with a 130-106 win at Knox in the first game of the season.  Kenny Greene posted a team-high 25 points.

The Panthers took control of the game in the first half as they held a 68-46 lead at halftime.

Despite a closer second half, Greenville maintained a lead of no less than 20 points in the second period.

Greene shot 9-of-22 with three three-pointers and four free throws for his total of 25 points.

Kieshaun Young-Jones was top rebounder with seven boards.

The Panthers forced 41 Knox turnovers in collecting 24 steals.  Greenville was led by Shane Smith with five steals.

Johari Dix was the top assist man with five helpers.

The Panthers (1-0) travel to Millikin to face Elmhurst on Friday before concluding the week with a Saturday game against Millikin.
