Men's basketball knocks off Transylvania

GREENVILLE, Ill. -- The men's basketball team returned to action at home in a rare Monday night game and came out the victors in a 125-109 win over Transylvania.

The game was a back-and-forth affair in the first half as the period featured nine ties and 15 lead changes.  Greenville slipped ahead to take a 68-66 advantage to halftime.

In the second half, Greenville's defensive intensity increased as they expanded their lead and held Transylvania at bay.

Shane Smith was the top scorer for Greenville as he posted 26 points, and Kenny Greene followed with 18 points.

Michael Hohm had 17 points and five steals.

Kieshaun Young-Jones paced Greenville on the boards with seven rebounds, and Johari Dix passed out five assists.

Greenville as a team forced Transylvania into turning the ball over 25 times.

The Panthers (5-1) travel to Webster for a game on Wednesday at 8 p.m.
