Men's basketball races away from MacMurray

GREENVILLE, Ill. — The men's basketball team won a hotly contested game with MacMurray as they rose to second place tie in the SLIAC standings with a 162-125 victory.

The game was tight in the first half with Greenville leading by a 63-56 score at halftime.

The Panthers exploded for 99 points in the second half, putting the game out of reach.

Greenville was led in scoring by Elmo Smith with 24 points, and DeAndre Brown posted a 19 point, eight rebound outing.

Four Panthers scored 17 points — Kenny Greene, Shane Smith, Michael Hohm, and Stevonte Young.

Smith added 11 rebounds and three blocked shots while Hohm chipped in five steals.

Greenville (14-4, 8-3 SLIAC) travels to Fontbonne for a game on Wednesday night at 7 p.m.  They are one-half game behind Iowa Wesleyan in the SLIAC standings.
