Men's basketball reaches top of SLIAC with win over Fontbonne

ST. LOUIS, Mo. -- The men's basketball team played their way to the first place position in the SLIAC standings with a 130-116 win over Fontbonne on Wednesday night.

The Panthers took the lead with just two minutes elapsed in the game, and Fontbonne never again led.

Michael Hohm was Greenville's top scorer in the game with 21 points on eight buckets, including three three-pointers, and two free throws.

Stevonte Young added 17 points, and Kenny Greene had 16 points.

The Panthers leading rebounders were Kieshaun Young-Jones and Johari Dix each with seven caroms.

Elmo Smith passed out four assists, and Daniel Saeli had four steals.

Greenville shot 25-of-71 behind the three-point line.

The Panthers (15-4, 9-3 SLIAC) are tied with Westminster for first but hold a 2-0 tiebreaker over the Blue Jays if the season were to end today.  Greenville goes to Spalding for a game on Saturday at 3 p.m.
