GREENVILLE, Ill. -- A monumental afternoon gave the men's basketball team the outright SLIAC championship for the second time in its history as they rolled to a 126-104 win against Blackburn on Saturday.  During the pregame ceremony, Greenville honored seniors Brian Ehresman, Stevonte Young, Shane Smith, Elmo Smith, Michael Hohm, Kenny Greene, DeAndre Brown, Richard Clemons, and Josh Herrick.

Kenny Greene scored 26 points to lead Greenville's offensive attack.  Greene's abilities behind the three-point line were on display as he made 6-of-13 three pointers, including several from well behind the line.

Johari Dix was second on the team with 18 points. Hohm followed with 16 points

Shane Smith was close to a double-double with 12 points and nine rebounds.

Greenville collected 16 steals as Blackburn committed 32 turnovers.

The Panthers led for nearly the entire game, taking a 63-54 advantage to halftime.

Greenville tied for the SLIAC championship last season and last held the outright championship in 1995-96.  This is their third SLIAC regular season title and second as the conference's outright champion.

The last SLIAC men's basketball tournament game in Greenville was in 1999 when the Panthers hosted a quarterfinal.  The SLIAC tournament championship game was last in Greenville in 1998 when the Panthers won their only men's basketball tournament championship.

The 20th regular season win marks the first time since 1996 that Greenville reached the 20 win plateau.  It is just the fourth team in 74 seasons of Panther basketball to reach 20 wins.  The 20th win gave head coach George Barber the most wins in a season during his 18-year coaching career.  He coached a team to a 19-8 record in 2003-04.

The Panthers (20-5, 14-4 SLIAC) host Principia on Friday night at 8 p.m. in the second game of the SLIAC tournament.
