Men's basketball nipped by Montclair State

CLEVELAND, Ohio -- The men's basketball team traveled to the Case Western Reserve campus in Ohio and met up with Montclair State who defeated the Panthers 119-114 on Friday night.

Greenville went to halftime down by nine, 67-56, but tightened the game by outscoring Montclair in the second half.

Rakim Murphy was top scorer for Greenville with 23 points in 19 minutes of action.  He was also the top rebounder for Greenville with six boards.

Greenville's pressure contributed to a 25-9 advantage in turnover margin as the Panthers collected 14 steals.  Josias Parker led Greenville with three steals.

Swade Edwards was effective off the bench with 16 points on the evening.  Three other Panthers scored between 11 to 14 points.

The Panthers (0-2) will play the host, Case Western Reserve, on Saturday in the consolation game of the tournament.
