Men's basketball grabs consolation trophy at Case Western Reserve with 120-111 win

CLEVELAND, Ohio -- The men's basketball team received a double-double effort of 22 points and 11 rebounds from Barry Nixon as the Panthers earned a 120-111 win over UAA opponent Case Western Reserve in the consolation game of the Case Western Reserve tournament.

The roller coaster game featured 11 ties and nine lead changes as Greenville's lead reached 12 with 7:40 remaining in the first half.  They later had to overcome a 14 point deficit with 12:01 to go in the game.

The Panthers shot the ball 100 times in the contest as they went 39-of-100 from the field, including a mark of 18-of-54 behind the three point arc.  They were 24-of-35 at the free throw line.

Greenville's pressure resulted in 35 turnovers for Case Western Reserve as the Panthers collected 23 steals.  Swade Edwards paced Greenville with four steals on the afternoon.

Sonti Grady scored 20 points in Greenville's effort, and Johari Dix added 14 points and three steals.

Rakim Murphy gave Greenville 15 points as he was selected to the all-tournament team after averaging 19 points over the two games.

Isiah Price contributed four assists and three steals for the Panthers.

The Panthers (1-2) host Knox in the final game before Thanksgiving on Tuesday at 7 p.m. in H.J. Long Gymnasium.
