Men's basketball wears out Eureka in 111-97 win

GREENVILLE, Ill. -- The men's basketball team used a 19 point advantage in the second half to overcome a halftime deficit as Greenville earned a 111-97 win over Eureka on Saturday.

The win put Greenville in first place in the SLIAC standings at the halfway mark in the conference schedule.

The Panthers trailed throughout much of the first half, but they were relentless in their pursuit as they erased a 12-point lead with about 11 minutes remaining and pushed their lead to as many as 19 points in the final minute of the game.

Greenville wore out Eureka with a never-ceasing pressure that resulted in 26 Red Devil turnovers and 19 steals for the Panthers.

Johari Dix was Greenville's leading scorer with 25 points on the afternoon.

Vari Bonney had a double-double with 17 points and 14 rebounds as he continued his solid play.

Josias Parker and Dix each provided five steals in the game.

The Panthers (10-6, 7-2 SLIAC) will attempt to extend their conference lead with a game on Monday against Spalding at 8 p.m.
