Men's basketball races past Iowa Wesleyan

GREENVILLE, Ill. -- The men's basketball team hit the 140 point mark for the fourth time this season as they crushed Iowa Wesleyan 140-113 on Saturday.

Vari Bonney continued his surge for the Panthers as he posted 19 points and eight rebounds.

Seven Panthers scored 10 or more points as they displayed a balanced offensive effort.

Marvin Bateman was second on the team with 16 points, and Johari Dix ended with 15 points.

Greenville's pressure accounted for 30 Iowa Wesleyan turnovers in the game as the Panthers grabbed 21 steals.

Barry Nixon was the leading defender for GU with four steals, and Adam Warren posted three steals.  Nixon tied Bonney for the team-high with eight rebounds.

The Panthers unselfish play resulted in 31 assists, headlined by Josias Parker with seven.

Greenvile took a 79-51 lead to the locker room at halftime, and led by as many as 32 in the game.

The Panthers (12-7, 8-3 SLIAC) lead the conference standings by one game, and they will host Fontbonne on Wednesday at 8 p.m.
