Men's basketball runs past Spalding to clinch tie for third straight SLIAC title

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — The men's basketball team grabbed a 129-112 victory against Spalding on Wednesday night. The win allowed Greenville to clinch no worse than a tie for their third consecutive SLIAC championship.

The Panthers held a 62-57 lead at halftime.

Greenville dominated the second half as they outscored Spalding 67-55 and led by 31 points with 4:38 remaining in the game.

Johari Dix posted 32 points to lead the Panthers. He also led the squad with seven assists and tied Vari Bonney for the team-high in steals with five.

Marvin Bateman tallied 25 points, and Bonney was the leader in rebounds with six.

Greenville forced 40 turnovers in the game and had 25 steals.

The Panthers (15-8, 12-4 SLIAC pre) will return to action on Saturday at home against Webster at 5 p.m. The Panthers will honor their seniors prior to Saturday's contest.
