Men's basketball falls at Loras in season opener

DUBUQUE, Iowa - The men's basketball team opened their 75th anniversary season with a 147-129 loss at Loras in the first game of the 2018-19 campaign.

The Panthers were led by eight players who recorded double-figure scoring marks in the game.  Greenville was paced in the scoring column by Isiah Price with 22 points and Eric Williams with 21 points in his GU debut.

Williams also filled the stats sheet with a team-high six rebounds and three steals.

Rakim Murphy returned to the GU lineup after missing two-thirds of the 2017-18 season due to injury and posted 14 points.

Marvin Bateman had 12 points, and Justin Cross added 11 points.

Johari Dix, Adam Warren, and Barry Nixon all had 10 points.

Greenville led 68-67 at halftime, but they were outscored 83-61 in the second half.

The Panthers (0-1) play at Dubuque on Saturday afternoon.
