Men's basketball routs North Park to win consolation crown

CHICAGO, Ill. - The men's basketball team got back on track with a 153-113 win over North Park in the consolation game of North Park's early season tournament.

The Panthers controlled the game, taking a 76-50 lead to halftime and outscoring North Park 77-63 in the second half. The GU advantage reached 45 points late in the second half.

Greenville featured a balanced scoring effort that led to eight players recording 10 or more points.

Isiah Price was the Panthers leading scorer with 16 points in the game. Eric Williams and Marvin Bateman each provided 15 points.

Rakim Murphy tallied 12 points, and Josias Parker totalled 11 points.

Ten points were scored by Daniel Saeli, Johari Dix, and Barry Nixon.

Greenville managed to come up with 24 steals as North Park turned the ball over 32 times. Dix and Riley Simmons each had four steals, and Simmons was the top rebounder with seven boards.

The Panthers (1-3) go to Nebraska Wesleyan for a tournament on Friday, Nov. 24. They open with Olivet in Friday's game and play Redlands on Saturday.
