Men's basketball drops game at Eureka

EUREKA, Ill. - The men's basketball team suffered a 161-153 loss to Eureka on the road on Monday night as they slipped a half-game behind Webster in the SLIAC standings.  The Panthers remaining games are against Westminster and Webster who are both in SLIAC tournament positions.  Wins in both games will still give the Panthers a share of the SLIAC league championship.

Greenville managed a 75-71 lead after the first half, but Eureka came from behind to win the game with a 90-78 advantage in the second stanza.  GU had a 17 point lead with 16:22 remaining in the game, and the score was knotted at 137-all with just over five minutes to play.

Eric Williams held the position as Greenville's leading scorer with 25 points.  Johari Dix added 21 points and five assists.  Marvin Bateman also contributed 21 points.

Barry Nixon chipped in 14 points and a team-high nine rebounds.

Josias Parker received his most extensive playing opportunity in several games and came away with 14 points and a team-high seven assists.

Eureka managed to keep their turnover count under 30 with 27 in the game.  Isiah Price, Swade Edwards, and Barry Nixon each had three steals.

The Panthers (16-7, 13-3 SLIAC) host Westminster on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. in their final regular season home game.
