Men's basketball falls in season opener

CLEVELAND, Ohio - The men's basketball team tipped off their season in the tournament hosted by Case Western Reserve. Greenville fell in their opening contest 132-113 against Centre.

The Panthers held a slim 55-53 lead after the first half, but the team was outscored 79-58 over the second half.

Greenville was led by five players who recorded double-figure scoring efforts, led by Sontiago Grady with 28 points. Grady made 9-of-17 field goal attempts, 4-of-11 three-pointers, and 6-of-7 free throws.

Barry Nixon led his unit with 16 points.

Newcomer Quincy Pinkard provided 14 points, and fellow newcomer Chris Jackson joined returner Riley Simmons with 11 points.

The Panthers (0-1) will play Central (Iowa) in the consolation game on Saturday.
