Men's basketball drops 142-129 contest at Fontbonne

ST. LOUIS, Mo. - The men's basketball team faced Fontbonne for the first time since last season's 200 point scoring effort and lost 142-129 on the road on Saturday.

Kendall Edmond and Sontiago Grady were Greenville's leading scorers with 16 points each. Edmond made 6-of-11 field goal attempts and 4-of-8 three-pointers. Grady knocked down 6-of-14 shots from the field and 4-of-9 three-point field goal attempts.

The Panthers featured seven players who surpassed the 10-point threshold. In addition to Edmond and Grady, Austyn Contreras posted 13 points, and Henry Johnson had 12 points. Marvin Bateman, Kameron Vinsel, and Quincy Pinkard all had 10 points.

Greenville recorded 21 steals in the game as Fontbonne committed 31 turnovers. Chris Jackson and Dustin Bankowski were Greenville's leaders with four steals.

Fontbonne led Greenville 72-58 after the first half as they built a lead they wouldn't relinquish. GU managed to outscore Fontbonnne 71-70 in the second half.

The Panthers (3-6, 2-1 SLIAC) host Dominican on Tuesday at 6 p.m. in their final non-conference contest of the season.
