Men's golf gains sportsmanship trophy at SLIAC championships

ST. LOUIS, Mo. -- The men's golf team placed eighth at the SLIAC championships on Tuesday at Aberdeen Golf Club and in the process collected the SLIAC sportsmanship trophy as the team that best represented the conference's focus on sportsmanship.

Tyler Thorpe was Greenville's top golfer as he recorded a three-round total of 258 to place 31st overall.  He shot 88-84-86 in the event.

Ransom Cochrane shot better than 100 in each round as he carded 291 final (97-99-95).  He was also Greenville's representative on the SLIAC all-sportsmanship team.

Joshua Jackson was two strokes behind Cochrane with a 293 (101-90-102).

Chris Brooks was Greenville's number four finisher with a a three day 294 (112-95-87).

The Panther three round total was 1136.

The men conclude their season on Friday and Saturday at Illinois College.
