Men's gymnastics sends three athletes to the NCAA championship

COLUMBUS, Ohio - The men's gymnastics team competed in session one of the NCAA qualifiers on Friday afternoon. They faced Stanford, the four-year reigning champs, along with Nebraska, Illinois, California, and Navy. The Panthers finished sixth with a 389.157 and eleventh overall. 

The vault team put up the highest score for Greenville with a 70.365. Logan Watterson was GU's best performer in vault, posting a 14.500 and tying for seventh place. 

Zach Connelly and Landon Benas both placed thirteenth in their events. Connelly posted a 13.666 in floor, and Benas scored a 13.733 in the pommel horse. 

Greenville's top performer in the rings was Ethan Poole, earning a mark of 13.033.

Benas also performed well in the parallel bars, scoring a 13.500 and placing seventeenth.

Mac Pollock put up a 12.533 in the horizontal bar to contribute to Greenville's 61.665 in the event.

GU did not enter anyone in the all-around competition.

Watterson (V), Benas (PH), and Connelly (FX) will represent the Panthers in the NCAA championship tomorrow at 5:00 p.m.
