Men's soccer leads early, falls to Spalding

GREENVILLE, Ill. -- The men's soccer team scored the first two goals of the game but allowed Spalding to score six goals in the first half in Wednesday's 7-3 loss on the road.

Christian Gomez was assisted by Jon Adams and Chad Juneau in giving Greenville the early lead in the 15th minute.  Edgar Bueno followed with a goal in the 21st minute to make it 2-0 in Greenville's favor.

Before the end of the half, Spalding scored six goals to take a 6-2 lead to the intermission.

In the second half, Spalding scored their seventh goal before Max Schimmelpfenning closed the scoring for Greenville.

Goalkeepers Nick Holland and Jonathan Bremer each had one save.  Holland allowed five goals in 38:18, and Bremer gave up two goals in 51:42.

The Panthers (4-8-4, 1-3-2 SLIAC) host Iowa Wesleyan on Saturday at 4 p.m. in their Homecoming match.
