Men's soccer locks up with Webster in scoreless draw

GREENVILLE, Ill. - The men's soccer team played Webster on Saturday in a matchup of top SLIAC teams. One hundred ten minutes of soccer proved inconclusive as the teams battled to a 0-0 draw.

The Panthers controlled the match offensively, taking 29 shots and forcing Webster's goalkeeper to make 14 saves. On the opposite end, Webster only took 11 shots, four of which Nick Holland stopped for saves.

Both teams had opportunities to score when it mattered most at the end of regulation. Jared McPeek shot high on a breakaway attempt late in the second half, and Webster put two on the post in a threatening series also late in the second half.

Juan Jose Herranz returned from an injury that took him out of Tuesday's match and posted eight shots for Greenville, including five on goal.

McPeek had six shots, three of which were on goal.

The Panthers (11-3-1, 3-1-1 SLIAC) head to MacMurray for a match at 3 p.m. on Wednesday.
