Men's soccer handles Illinois College 2-1

GREENVILLE, Ill. - The men's soccer team bounced back from a challenging weekend with a 2-1 win over Illinois College at Francis Field on Tuesday night.

The Panthers received a goal and an assist from Jared McPeek as they bettered Illinois College by a 19-10 margin in shots and an 11-5 advantage in shots on goal.

McPeek scored his fourth goal of the season in the 36th minute, gaining assists from Adam Jones and Jonathan Moyo, as Greenville took a 1-0 lead to halftime.

In the 61st minute, Juan Salazar deposited a rebound from a McPeek shot into the net, giving GU a 2-0 lead. Seven and a half minutes later, Illinois College received a goal after a corner kick, slicing the Panther lead in half.

McPeek managed to provide four shots, including three shots on goal.

Juan Garcia attempted three shots, all of which were shots on goal.

Illinois College's five shots on goal were faced by Greenville goalkeeper Nick Holland who collected four saves in the match. Holland improved his record to 3-4 with the victory.

The Panthers (4-4) travel to WashU on Monday for a match at 7:30 p.m. before SLIAC competition begins on Saturday, Oct. 5, with a match against Westminster.
