ELSAH, Ill. -- The men's tennis team split a pair of matches on Saturday as the young team showed improvement from their debut weekend two weeks ago.

The first match of the day was close all of the way through. The Panthers No. 1 doubles team of Nate Wieland and Justin Tilford gained the lone win for the Panthers in doubles.

The Panthers needed four singles wins to pull off the win but could only get three. Highlight of the match was a comeback win by Junior Nate Wieland in singles at No. 1.  It was the best win of his career against a highly ranked opponent.

The men took on Illinois College after a few minutes of rest.

Due to a couple of injuries, the Panthers were able to display the depth of their team.

Freshmen Jeremiah Brannon and Micah Harlan stepped in played very well, gaining much needed wins for the Panthers in singles and doubles.

Sophomore Justin Tilford put an exclamation mark on his day with another singles and doubles win. He finished the day undefeated at No. 1 doubles and No. 3 singles.

The Panthers (3-1) return to action on Wednesday at home against Illinois Wesleyan.
