ST. LOUIS, Mo. — The men's tennis team opened the SLIAC tournament with a 5-0 win over Webster on Friday to advance to the championship match of the tournament on Saturday.

The doubles matches were the first to finish. The Panthers took 8-2 wins at No. 1 and No. 3 doubles. Justin Tilford and Nate Wieland was the pairing at No. 1, and Austin Burkhart and Gabriel Munoz were No. 3.

The No. 2 team of Daniel Pieplow and Zach Plocher won 8-6.

To advance in the tournament, the first team to win five matches is the winner. Thus, Greenville only needed two more wins.

No. 2 Munoz and No. 5 Tilford got that accomplished quickly. Munoz won 6-0, 6-0, and Tilford took a 6-1, 6-0 triumph.

The Panthers (17-2) play Principia in the championship on Saturday at 11 a.m.
