Men's tennis battles back to top Albion

ALBION, Mich. - The men's tennis team secured a come-from-behind win on Saturday at Albion when they defeated the Britons 5-4.

The Panthers slipped behind after the doubles matches when they came up with a win in the No. 3 doubles match.  Tyler Blume and Matthew Rodriguez topped their opponents in No. 3 doubles 8-4.

In singles, the Panthers managed to come up with wins in four of the six matches.

Greenville fell behind 3-1 after No. 1 Daniel Pieplow lost his match, but the Panthers got wins in the next two matches to even the match 3-3 when No. 2 Zach Plocher won 6-3, 6-2, and No. 4 Austin Burkhart was a 7-5, 6-2 victor.

The Panthers took a 4-3 lead in the match following No. 3 Justin Tilford's 6-4, 6-2 victory.

After Albion tied the match at 4-4, a 6-3, 7-5 win in No. 6 singles by Matthew Rodriguez wrapped up the triumph by the Panthers.

The Panthers (2-1) head to Knox for matches next Saturday against Illinois Wesleyan and Knox.
