Men's tennis takes second in SLIAC tournament

ST. LOUIS, Mo. - The men's tennis team was handed a 5-1 loss in the championship match of the 2019 SLIAC tournament on Saturday.

Greenville was dealt an 8-3 defeat in No. 1 doubles, but they gave Principia all they could handle at No. 2 and No. 3 doubles. The No. 2 team of Tyler Blume and Justin Tilford had a 7-6 lead, but the match went to a tiebreaker that ended in PC's favor.

The Panthers earned the first point against Principia this year with a win by Austin Burkhart and Mathew Rodriguez at No. 3 doubles.

Principia gained the conference championship with wins in No. 1, No. 4, and No. 2 singles.

The Panthers wrapped up their season with an overall record of 15-4.
