Men's tennis drops matches in Bloomington

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - The men's tennis team opened their 2021 season with indoor matches against Illinois Wesleyan and Loras at Evergreen Racquet Club, and the Panthers suffered a pair of 7-2 losses.

In the day's opening match, Greenville fell behind 3-0 after the round of three doubles matches against Illinois Wesleyan, and the Panthers could not recover.

In the singles competition against the Titans, Mathew Rodriguez earned a 4-6, 6-4, 12-10 three-set win in No. 4 singles, and Thibaut Tignee collected a 6-4, 6-3 win in No. 6 singles.

In Greenville's match against Loras, the Panthers won one of the three doubles matches when Rodriguez and Thibaut teamed up for an 8-5 win at No. 3 doubles.

In singles play versus Loras, No. 2 Austin Burkhart was a 6-2, 6-2 victor.

The Panthers (0-2) return to the court against Hendrix in Belleville on Friday.
