Men's track and field led by Williams and Sharp at Illinois Wesleyan

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. -- The men's track and field team received first place finishes from long jumper Jarrid Williams and mid-distance runner Andrew Sharp in their opening meet of the season.

William posted a distance of 6.93 meters (22 ft-9 in) in winning the event.

Sharp's time of 1:24.59 in the 600 nipped the second place finisher by 15 hundredths of a second.

Sharp also placed third in the 300 meter dash as he finished in 37.30 seconds.

Throwers Ryan Burgess and Mitchell Hooten provided third place marks.

Burgess reached 15.14 m (49-8.25) in the weight throw, and Hooten hit a mark of 14.15 m (46-5.25) in the shot put.

The Panthers will return to the track on January 21 at Illinois College.
