Men's track and field opens at Illinois Wesleyan

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. -- The men's track and field team competed at Illinois Wesleyan on Saturday at the First Chance meet.  The highlight of the meet for Greenville was Mitchell Hooten's second place mark in the shot put.

Hooten led Greenville's group of entries with the highest placing mark.  He threw the shot put implement 47 feet, 9 inches to record the second place finish.

Fellow throwing teammate Ben Perry was third in the weight throw with a mark of 48-4.

David Martin clocked a time of 9.06 seconds in the 60 meter hurdles to place third in the finals.  Martin won the event's second heat.

The 4x400/1600 meter relay team that included Hughes, Alex Finke, Jackson Pierce, and Tyler Kimes was third with a combined time of 3:31.84.  They won their heat.

Greg Mitchell was fifth in the high jump, clearing 6 feet, 4.75 inches.

Matt Hughes was sixth in the 60 meter hurdles with a time of 9.37 seconds.  

Alex Finke finished sixth in the 300 meter dash with a time of 37.34 seconds.  He was second in his heat.

The Panthers return to action in the new year on Saturday, Jan. 20, at Illinois College.
