Men's track and field led by Potts at Illinois College

JACKSONVILLE, Ill. — The men's indoor track and field team earned the second place position at the Illinois College meet on Saturday as Nathan Potts led them as the winner of the 800 meter run.

Potts provided Greenville with a time of 1:57.72 to gain 10 points in Greenville's team standings.

LC Washington was a second place finisher for Greenville with a throw of 13.76 meters in the shot put. Teammate Mitchell Hooten was fourth in the shot put with an attempt of 13.37 meters.

Hooten and Washington flipped their positions as Greenville's top performer in the weight throw. Hooten threw the weight 14.37 meters for third place, and Washington had a top throw of 14.32 meters for fourth place.

John Mangold's performance in the mile run gave Greenville its second finish of second place as he completed the race in 4:21.

The 4x400 meter relay team of Potts, Jaylen Shelton, Mangold, and Jackson Pierce completed their race in 3:34 for fourth place.

In the jumping events, Greenville received a third place performance in the triple jump and a fourth place mark in the high jump.

Lucas Doiron hit a mark of 12.69 meters in the triple jump, and Matthew Hughes cleared 1.78 meters (5 feet-10 inches) in the high jump.

Greenville accrued a total of 83 points in a field of 17 teams.

The Panthers return to action at Monmouth on Saturday, Feb. 10.
