Men's track and field ends regular season at North Central

NAPERVILLE, Ill. - The men's track and field team sent a contingent of student-athletes to North Central to compete in their final NCAA qualifying meet of the season on Wednesday and Thursday.

The 4x100 meter relay team took over six tenths of a second off their best time of the season and finished first in the meet.  Mahari Holt, Di'Mond Salmond, Jeremiah Davis, and Rakim Murphy were the members of the team.

Murphy was busy, earning a fourth place finish in the long jump with a distance of 6.42 meters in his third of six tries.  Murphy also ranked second in the 200 meter dash with a time of 21.43 seconds, improving his seed time of 21.51 seconds.

Dylan Goodyear was fourth in the steeplechase with a time of 9:21.68.

Throwers Mitchell Hooten, Chris Crawford, and Maurice Radtke left their marks in the shot put, hammer throw, and discus competions.

Hooten was second in the shot put with a mark of 14.67 meters and was second in the discus with a distance of 46.23 meters.  Teammate Radtke was fourth in the shot put as he reached 12.85 meters.

Crawford won the hammer throw with an attempt of 53.79 meters.

David Martin earned a fourth place mark in the decathlon with a score of 6,335 points.  He was first in the discus portion of the 10-event competition.

The Panthers will send members of their team to the NCAA Division III national championships next week.  The final qualifiers will be announced on Monday.
