Men's volleyball tripped up by Lindenwood - Belleville in opening match

BELLEVILLE, Ill. -- The men's volleyball team opened their season on Thursday night with a four set loss to Lindenwood - Belleville.

The Panthers won the opening set 25-23, but Lindenwood rattled off 25-11, 25-21, 25-16 sets to take the win.

Newcomer Isaiah Canales was Greenville's top producer in kills with 10 on the evening.  Kyle Ward produced eight kills, and Manuel Benitez added seven kills.

Tanner Smith provide 29 assists.

The Panther defensive effort was led by a quartet with three digs -- Benitez, Andrew Johnson, Peter Binder, and Smith.

Johnny Milabu posted three solo blocks and one block assist.

Greenville is still looking for its first win over Lindenwood - Belleville.  Last season, the Panthers were defeated by LUB in four-set and five-set matches to give them two of their 11 losses.

The Panthers (0-1) return to action Friday at Lincoln College with matches at 5 p.m. and 7 p.m.
