Men's volleyball earns three wins on Wednesday

GREENVILLE, Ill. -- The men's volleyball team ran their perfect start to the season to five matches as they pushed past Missouri Baptist in three sets and Lincoln's JV in two sets before capping the evening with a four-set win over Lincoln's varsity team.

The day's opening match saw the Panthers take a 25-15, 25-19, 25-15 win in less than 60 minutes.

Marc Gonzalez collected 14.5 points with 12 kills, two service aces, and a block assist.

Johnny Milabu's presence at the net was strong with four block assists.

After dispatching MBU, Greenville turned to Lincoln's junior varsity which they defeated in two sets -- 25-22, 25-21.

Gonzalez was the top point producer with eight as he had four kills, three service aces, and two block assists.

However teammate George Black was right behind him with seven points on a team-high seven kills.

Logan Dameris totaled nine digs in the two sets, and Isaiah Canales had three block assists.

The final match of the evening featured a 23-25, 25-19, 25-21, 25-21 win as the Panthers bounced back from an opening set loss to rally with three straight set wins.

Gonzalez tallied a match high 18 kills as he hit at a rate of .400 in the final match.

Canales gave GU three solo blocks and three block assists as he led a unit that posted five solo blocks and 14 block assists.

Kyle Ward was second on the team with 10 kills, and he also added one solo block and one block assist.

Tanner Smith had a solid match with 49 assists, 10 digs, one solo block, and four block assists.

The Panthers (5-0) travel to Olivet for a match on Friday.
