Men's volleyball wins one of two matches on Saturday

GREENVILLE, Ill. -- The men's volleyball team opened Saturday's action with a four set loss to Mt. Mercy, but they came back and took a five-set win over Trinity Christian in the final match of the day.

The Panthers grabbed the opening set 25-20 against Mt. Mercy but were held to 19 points or fewer in the remaining sets.

Kyle Ward produced 19 points in the match as he had a team-leading 15 kills, three service aces, and a solo block.

George Black came up with 12 kills and a block assist for 12.5 points.

Tanner Smith totaled 38 assists in the setter's role.

The match against Trinity Christian went back and forth with Greenville eventually winning 20-25, 25-20, 23-25, 25-17, 15-12 in a thriller.

Nick Corrigan was the Panthers top point producer with 12 kills, four block assists, and a service ace for 15 points.

Black had a 14 point match with 13 kills and two block assists.

Isaiah Canales was a tremendous force at the net as he collected one solo block and 10 block assists.

Smith tallied 46 assists, three service aces, 17 digs, one solo block, and six block assists.

The Panthers (7-5) go to Lincoln on Tuesday for a pair of matches.
