Gianni Estrada and Cayden Sharp have been selected as the 2022-23 SLIAC Athletes of the Year. The award is presented to one male and one female athlete from conference-sponsored sports regardless of academic standing and voted on by league Sports Information Directors.
An outstanding November run from Gianni Estrada earned the 21st place position at the NCAA Division III midwest regional and helped the Panthers to a 13th place finish, one position better than their 14th place showing at last year's regional.
It was a record-setting day for Gianni Estrada as he led Greenville University to its seventh consecutive St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference men's cross country championship and the 19th in school history.
The men's cross country team raced to a sixth place finish of 15 teams at Aurora on Saturday. The Panthers were paced by Gianni Estrada in the number one position.
The men's cross country team placed third of eight teams at the Olivet Nazarene Tiger Cross Country Invitational on Friday. The Panthers' top finisher was Jeremiah Perry who recorded an 11th place showing. Overall, the Panthers had 92 points.
The men's cross country team opened their 2022 season as the defending SLIAC champions with a dual meet against Washington University on Thursday morning.
