GREENVILLE, Ill. -- The softball team gave head coach Buddy Foster a pair of wins in his home debut as they took 9-0 and 12-4 victories over Morthland in two shortened games.
Greenville's Kaitlin Johnson pitched a two hitter in the first game as the bats stayed hot.
The Lady Panthers didn't take long to get on the scoreboard as they posted three runs in their first at bat.
Shelby Cash and Tiffany Samsoe delivered RBI doubles in the first inning, and Becca Oldham had an RBI single.
The Lady Panthers put their fourth run on the scoreboard in the fourth inning with Oldham's sacrifice fly.
A five-run fourth inning gave Greenville enough to end the game after Morthland's half of the fifth inning.
Karissa Woody came up with an RBI groundout.
Cash and Samsoe added RBI singles, and Kate Jolliff posted a two-run double.
Johnson hurled all five innings in her complete game shutout. In addition to only allowing two hits, she only permitted three walks.
Game two went Greenville's way from the beginning as well. The Lady Panthers jumped ahead 6-0 with three runs in each of the first two innings.
In the first inning, Jordan Wieland scored on a wild pitch, and Jolliff and Oldham gave Greenville RBI singles.
Cash hit a two run single in the second inning, and the sixth run scored when the left fielder made an error in Jolliff's at bat.
The Lady Panthers pushed across another run in the fourth inning with Samsoe's RBI single.
Morthland posted their first runs of the day with three tallies off relief pitcher Cayla Speaks in the top of the fifth.
Greenville matched Morthland's three runs with three runs of their own in the bottom of the fifth.
Wieland added an RBI single, and Samsoe knocked in two runs with a single.
Morthland made the score 10-4 with a run in the top of the sixth, but the Lady Panthers ended the day with two runs in the bottom of the sixth inning.
Oldham homered, and then Emi Hug ended the game with an RBI single.
Speaks pitched 3.2 innings of relief to gain the win. Oldham started the game in the circle and didn't permit any runs in two innings. Kearsta Ornellas wrapped up the game by getting the game's final out.
The Lady Panthers (3-1) are off until their spring break trip to Arizona and their games on Monday, March 13 against Eastern Connecticut State and Stevens Institute.
