Softball honors seniors with doubleheader sweep over Spalding

GREENVILLE, Ill. -- The softball team recognized seniors Brianna Anderson, Shelby Cash, Cassandra Lueking, and Tiffany Samsoe in a pregame ceremony and then went out to beat Spalding 7-4 and 8-3 in a doubleheader at home.

Game one was scoreless until Greenville scratched across a run in the bottom of the fourth.  The Lady Panthers made the game 3-0 with two runs in the fifth.  Greenville allowed Spalding to tie the game at 3-3, but the women responded with four runs in the bottom of the sixth.

Becca Oldham and Amanda Atteberry each produced three hits.

Brianna Anderson pitched a seven inning complete game to improve her record to 8-4.  Anderson struck out nine.

Game two saw the Lady Panthers fall behind 3-0 before mounting a five run inning to take control of the game.  They added three runs in the fourth inning.

Oldham had three more hits.  Tiffany Samsoe and Kate Jolliff got two hits.

Kaitlin Johnson was the starting pitcher, and she went 4.2 innings in picking up the win.  Cayla Speaks allowed all three runs in 2.1 innings.

The Lady Panthers (15-10, 8-2 SLIAC) face Millikin on the road on Thursday.
